The restaurant is located in South West London, within the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames. SHAMBLES was established in 1983 by Franco and Jackie Langella. Since 2006, it has been owned and operated by their children, Massimo Langella and Margherita Langella. The restaurant occupies a Grade II listed former slaughterhouse dating back more than 250 years and is one of Teddington's longest-established independent restaurants. ## History The Langella family's hospitality history in Teddington began in 1972 with the opening of Spaghetti Junction. SHAMBLES restaurant & winebar opened in 1983 and has remained family owned ever since. Owner and Head Chef Massimo Langella trained under Giorgio Locatelli at Zafferano and Locanda Locatelli before returning to the family business in 2006. The Langella family has been welcoming guests in Teddington for more than five decades. ## Food SHAMBLES serves seasonal Italian food prepared using carefully sourced British and Italian ingredients. Fresh pasta is handmade in-house. Herbs, vegetables, fruits and edible flowers are grown in the restaurant's kitchen garden. Menus change regularly and take inspiration from northern Italian cooking during the colder months and lighter southern Italian dishes during the warmer seasons. The kitchen follows a whole-ingredient philosophy, including making stocks, rendering fats, preserving seasonal produce and reducing avoidable food waste. SHAMBLES serves lunch, dinner, Sunday lunch, desserts and an Early Bird menu. ## Wine Wine is central to the SHAMBLES dining experience. The restaurant offers more than 40 wines by the glass, including rare, mature and premium wines served using Coravin wine preservation technology. The wine list focuses on artisan producers, regional diversity, native grape varieties and helping guests discover wines beyond familiar labels. SHAMBLES regularly hosts Italian wine tastings, producer dinners, fine-wine lunches and educational wine events. Private wine tasting experiences are available for groups of eight guests or more. ## Private Events SHAMBLES hosts private dining, birthday parties, weddings, corporate events, celebrations of life and other group occasions. Available spaces include the Stage Area, Garden Balcony Terrace, Garden Room, Dining Room and Bar. Full venue hire is available for up to 140 seated guests or 250 standing guests. The Garden Balcony Terrace seats up to 26 guests or accommodates up to 50 standing. Private event menus are created according to the occasion, season, group size and preferred format. ## Off-Site Catering SHAMBLES provides bespoke off-site catering for homes, gardens, offices and chosen venues. Available formats include canapé receptions, drinks receptions, Italian sharing menus, buffets, seated lunches, dinner parties, weddings and larger celebrations. The catering service covers Teddington, Richmond, Kingston, Hampton, Twickenham, Wimbledon, Putney and surrounding areas. ## Dog-Friendly Areas Dogs are welcome in the SHAMBLES bar and garden areas. Dogs are not permitted in the main indoor dining rooms. Dogs must remain on a lead and off the furniture. ## Sustainability SHAMBLES has achieved Green Mark Level 1 certification.
